Why I Think Duke Will Fall Short of the National Championship

I understand that I don’t know who Duke will play in the NCAA Tournament, but I think they will lose. I know I sound crazy because Duke is one of the hottest teams in the nation, as they just beat Virginia, the 3rd ranked team in the country. But, here is why I don’t think they will win.

Since 2010, the winning National Championship team has allowed their opponents under 70 points (around the average points per game for a team) 7 out of 9 times. The point I’m making is, even against the best teams, the winning teams defense is great. Duke doesn’t have great defense. It is mediocre, as it’s 39th in the nation. Mediocre defense doesn’t win championships, and that is why I think they will fall.

When Duke won the championship in 2015, they allowed Sam Dekker and Frank Kaminsky on Wisconsin to 63 points. The defense of Duke hasn’t been great in the past couple years and that is why they haven’t been winning championships.

  1. I disagree. One thing they do have is coach Mike with a lot of experience in post NCAA play. Also maybe the best player in the nation. It will interesting as always
