Great Day of College Basketball, Wozniacki wins the Women’s Aussie Open, and Paul George is headed to All-Star Game

In NCAA basketball news, well it was a pretty great, NC St knocked off 10th ranked team in the nation North Carolina, on the road, in overtime, 95-91 Then, Alabama beat Oklahoma, 80-73. Oklahoma was the 12th ranked team in the nation but it will be interesting to see if they will drop because they did beat Kansas earlier this week. Virginia, the 2nd ranked squad in the country, beat the 4th ranked Duke, 65-63. I predicted Virginia would win 63-60, so I thought I was pretty close. Rhode Island, the 24th ranked group in the nation won 61-58 on a buzzer beater. Finally, West Virginia lost to Kentucky at home 83-76. West Virginia being the 7th seed will drop dramatically due to losses to TCU and Kentucky this week.

In tennis, Caroline Wozniacki beat Simona Halep, for her first Grand Slam win. Wozniacki beat Halep in 3 sets winning the first set in a tiebreaker and in that tiebreaker won 7-2. She lost the 2nd set 6-3 and then finished the match winning 6-4 in the final set. Early Sunday morning, Marin Cilic plays Roger Federer in the mens final. I think Federer will win in 4 sets, winning the first 6-3, the second, 6-4, losing the 3rd 6-2, and in the 4th set he will win the Australian Open by winning the set 7-5.

In the NBA, Paul George replaces Demarcus Cousins in the All-Star Game due to Cousins tearing his Achilles. The question is do I think this is a good move to put Paul George in. It’s hard to say. I think they should put another center in instead of small forward.
